What a Beautiful sight!
The sculpture depicting Meenakshi Sundareswarar thirukalyanam in stone is in Meenakshi Amman temple in Madurai.
The same forms the front picture of many wedding cards even now. Madurai, the only place probably where a city is situated around the temple. If you go through the four towers of Meenakshi Amman temple and just close your eyes for a minute, you can imagine Pandyan king going around the city on his horse. That sort of ethnicity that city itself has, Madurai.. Meaning madhuram.. Nectar that fell from Lord Siva's hair.
Meenakshi... Girl who had beautiful fish like eyes shown so beautifully here.
Meenakshi's brother giving her loving sister's hand to her beloved.
Changu chakradhari with a lovely smile on his face, slightly bend..
Responsible brother he is doing the marriage sadanku by pouring water over both palms of Siva and Parvathy held together.
Lord Siva has that apt expression of the groom, with the crescent on top, Damaru on his right hand, deer on his left hand (Maya under control?) unusually in pattu probably for the sake of kalyanam... So beautiful!
And Meenakshi standing on a lotus pendanted Tulsi garland.. Probably donated by her brother so that her feet doesn't ache with long standing.
Her body covered in sandal paste, the vibuthi on her forehead so beautifully shown, in traditional red kalyana Pattu...emerald ornaments.. She looks beautiful!
And the red rose on Shiva's hand.. Romantic too:blush: Awesome!
